It’s gettin’ hot in here!

The weather here in Aswan, Egypt lately in degrees: 117, 114, 111, 109, 111, 114… and up and down we go in the 100’s… no wonder all I ever eat anymore is peaches, watermelon and water! sheesh!! … and it’s not even summer yet hahahahha OYYY!

To top it off tonight we are experiencing high winds and sand storms… Calgon, take me away… I’m in a blurry haze of white sand… I can’t see the Nile or anything, for that matter… just a bunch of sand blowing around… winds-a-howlin’, windows a rattlin’,  and this girl, well she needed to update you on the last few months here in Aswan, but, well, I’m heading for cover — and air conditioning — …. I’ll be back for more fun and stories when it all calms down…. ma`as-salāma!

The white area below is where the Nile River is… now it’s just a sandy blurrrrrrrrr…..

A Glimpse at an Egyptian Sandstorm

It’s windy today, but today it is a different type of windy day.

Ashraf said, “I think it is cold today… you can tell by the color of the sky…”

Looking out towards the Nile River and towards the Sahara Desert, I opened the window and felt the air.  It was cool… the sky around our villa was blue, but looking again over at the Sahara I noticed what ‘color’ Ashraf was talking about.  The sky above the Sahara was creamy colored.   So interesting.  Never saw that before.  I said, “The sky is that color, because the wind is kicking the sand up into the air…”  Now a few hours later, the sand is part of our air.  Very little evidence of the blue sky I saw earlier.

The windows are shaking from the howling wind… I guess I’m seeing a glimpse of what the beginnings of a sand storm look like…

This photo was taken from the villa , from the other side of the Nile River to the Sahara Desert with a zoom lens… pretty coolness, eh?:
